Okay, so it’s been awhile since I’ve blogged. I’ve been thinking about my teaching blog a lot. The problem is just finding the time. I’m really struggling with balancing out my teacher life and my home life. I feel like my teacher life often wins. Most days I am at school by 7 and there until 5 or 6 (many times even later). My hours are supposed to 8:15-3:45, but how does one even do that when there are lessons to be planned, modifications to be made, papers to be sent to print store, parent phone calls to be done, flip charts to be created, etc.? I feel fortunate enough to be at a school where there are many first year teachers and I know I am not alone in feeling overwhelmed. One of my colleagues sent an email out to all of the other new teachers with this link: http://newteachercenter.org/blog/phases-first-year-teaching and I feel like this is pretty accurate. You will be hearing from me very soon about some of the things I have going on in my classroom. I feel like things are really clicking inside of my co-taught room. 🙂
How do you balance teaching and life outside of school?
Hang on! It really does get better. But it takes time.
